Bolton Hospice

We have nominated Bolton Hospice as our Charity of the Year and here’s why:

Bolton Hospice was established in during an eight-year period from 1984 to 1992 following a need identified, by the local hospital, to enhance the lives of local people suffering from life limiting illnesses. The Hospice care for people not only within the hospice but also in their own homes and extends the care role by offering support to families and friends of those receiving care.

Bolton Hospice are an independent charity mainly funded by the people of Bolton. The annual running costs are in excess of £4.2 million of which somewhere in the region of 30% of the costs are met by the local NHS. However, to continue providing free care and support Bolton Hospice need to raise over £3 million a year through donations, fundraising and gifts in wills.

Our Efforts

As directors of the Gardele Ltd we know the importance of the work the hospice fulfils and have experienced this on a personal basis. Our efforts this year so far, though curtailed by Covid-19, have included wine tasting and lunch events, our ‘biggie’ though is taking part in the annual event of ‘Strictly Learn To Dance’ which certainly puts participants out of their comfort zone as learning four dances culminates in a Gala evening in front of 1000 very noisy families, friends and associates.
